The program focuses on building and reinforcing the fundamentals of the English language.
Lessons are tailored to each student's age, proficiency, and curriculum.
The course covers the 3 key components of language learning: grammar, vocabulary and comprehension.
Learners will practise on assessment papers to build their exam confidence and develop their time management skills.
Grammar is more than just a set a rules to avoid mistakes, it's the structural foundation of our ability to express ourselves. A solid understanding of grammar enables learners to craft words into eloquent sentences, and form those sentences into paragraphs that successfully convey their thoughts.
In this module, learners will explore the parts of speech and learn how to use them accurately in their writing. They will also develop an understanding of punctuation as when used correctly, punctuations can clarify meaning while lack or misuse of it can cause ambiguity or confusion.
Vocabulary can be described as the "glue" that holds stories, ideas, and concepts together. It allows us to express our ideas and communicate effectively. A strong vocabulary is also essential for reading comprehension. Readers cannot fully understand a text without knowing the meaning of most of the words.
Quite often, we may forget the new words we learn. It is therefore important to actively practice and reinforce them.
In this module, learners will expand their vocabulary by learning to use new words confidently in both speech and writing.
Comprehension refers to the ability to understand written words and context. Merely reading but not understanding does not fulfill the purpose of reading. Comprehension makes reading fun, enjoyable and informative. It is essential to succeed in school, work, and life in general.
In this module, learners Students will learn strategies to approach comprehension with confidence. The focus will include 'identifying the main idea, sequencing events, distinguishing facts from opinions, drawing conclusions, predicting outcomes, making inferences, and using contextual clues.' With structured guidance and practice, students will develop the skills to ace their comprehension.
